Datamatics Technologies forms joint venture with Cadmus

Datamatics Technologies and Cadmus Communications, a leading provider of publisher services, have entered into a joint venture to form KnowledgeWorks Global (KGL), to provide a full range of content processing, content management, and related services to STM publishers and other organisations around the world. Cadmus will hold an 80 percent stake in the company while 20 percent will be owned by Datamatics Technologies. Cadmus has the option of buying the 20 percent stake from Datamatics Technologies in the next three years in order to set up a 100 percent subsidiary.

KGL plans to set up an independent facility in Chennai by January of the coming year, which will complement its Mumbai facility. The centres will provide a full range of highly automated content services for journals, periodicals and books, including data conversion, copy editing, issue management, and full service composition.

Said Manish Modi, managing director and CEO, Datamatics Technologies, "We are targeting revenues of $5-6 million in the first year, which we expect to increase to $20 million by 2006. The company already boasts of three clients with three more agreements expected to be in place by the end of September.
