Circuit EC / Bangalore

US-based Electronic Design and Automation (EDA) software vendor, Magma Design Automation, will set up an R&D centre at Bangalore. In addition, the company will form a team of product specialists to address nanometre IC design and maintain a sales and marketing team to serve its Indian customers. It will also set up a Field Applications Engineering (FAE) team to provide technical support in India. Magma plans to invest Rs 30 crore into its R&D centre, which will have a headcount of 40 people. Vice president of the company, Charlie Simon, says, “Magma sees India as an emerging technology hub with a strong growing domestic market for EDA tools, currently estimated at $40 million.”
