Udyog to set up 50 service centres

Stanley Glancy / Mumbai

Udyog Software India, a Mumbai-based software solutions provider, has announced plans to set up 50 service centres across the country by the end of the current fiscal. This is in keeping with the company’s strategy to tap the burgeoning excise software market. With the textile and garment industry—which till last fiscal didn’t have to pay excise—now coming under the purview of the Excise Department, Udyog sees vast opportunities for its excise software package.

A market survey based on the number of PAN (Permanent Account Number) registrations shows that there are more than one crore manufacturers registered with the Excise Department. According to Pravin Sawant, marketing manager, Udyog Software India, only 15-20 percent of this market has been tapped. Udyog already commands an 85 percent share of the excise software market in India. Sawant cited the software’s ability to integrate with any ERP or accounting package as the main reason for the product’s popularity. Udyog also plans to get aggressive on the corporate segment, this being one of the key reasons for setting up centres across the country. Sawant said that though there are other players who sell similar software, Udyog has a clear advantage as it focuses more on service than on selling the package. The centres are expected to help the company deliver faster service and also increase its market reach.

Udyog has also launched a mini ERP system for small and medium enterprises. According to Sawant, the ERP system which will cost between Rs 3 lakh to Rs 10 lakh can be deployed within three months.
