Lite-On combo drive: LTC-48161H
Mediatech has announced the launch of Lite-On
IT’s first half-height ATAPI/E-IDE combo drive: LTC-48161H.
The combo drive is capable of writing CD-R media at speeds of up
to 48X, rewrite ultra-speed CD-RW media at 24X maximum, and read
CD-ROM media at 48X maximum. It not only functions as an ultra-speed
CD-RW writer, but can also be alternatively used as a DVD-ROM drive.
The drive can read DVD-ROM media at speeds of up to 16X. The LITE-ON
combo drive comes bundled with built-in Smart-Burn technology, which
provides buffer-under-run-free function and great media compatibility
for high-speed writing CD-R / CD-RW media. Smart-X technology provides
smooth and stable audio CD / VCD / DVD playback and high-performance
DAE / VCD / DVD data extraction. LITE-ON’s proprietary VAS
mechanism effectively reduces noise and vibration even during high-speed
spinning / reading / writing. The LTC-48161H combo drive measures
17 cms in length, which is shorter than other optical disk drives.

Pacific have announced the availability of Tandberg Data branded
DLT IV cartridges in Asia Pacific. The Tandberg Data DLT Tape IV
cartridge is designed and manufactured for superior performance
and reliability in DLT tape drives, autoloaders and libraries. The
product offers storage capacity of 40 to 80 GB native/compressed,
and transfer rates of up to 5 MB/sec/10 MB/sec (native/compressed).
Each data cartridge includes a special offer on data recovery services
in the event of media damage or data corruption during the media
life cycle. In addition, the company has introduced colour coding
for its cartridges to help customers to easily identify which data
cartridge to use in their tape drives. The cartridges are available
through Tandberg’s channel partners.
