First Apex launches European operations
India-based First Apex has announced the formation of First Apex Europe to address the business and technology challenges facing European insurers, with a unique mix of software and services. The new company, with offices in London has planned a ‘3S Strategy’ of ‘support, supplement and substitute’.


Wipro Infotech partners with Sistina
Wipro Infotech has announced a strategic alliance with Sistina Software, a US-based storage infrastructure software company delivering data-sharing solutions. Through this alliance, Wipro Infotech will provide support and implementation services to customers of Sistina in India, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. The alliance helps Wipro to further build on its competency to provide implementation and support services to the growing base of customers who have adopted Linux for their enterprise.


Satyam signs long-term contract with World Bank
The World Bank has chosen Satyam Computer Services as its primary offshore IT services partner. The World Bank is an existing customer of Satyam and the new contract was won against stiff competition from other global IT companies. Satyam will deliver solutions like ERP, Java, .NET, Notes/Domino, document management, and messaging amongst others. Satyam supported the media design of the World Bank intranet, which was ranked among the world’s 10 best intranet sites by the reputed US agency Nielsen Norman Group in October last year.


GrapeCity launches ComponentOne Studio for .NET in India
GrapeCity India, a component-based software development company, has expanded its product portfolio with the launch of its ComponentOne Studio for .NET in India under its PowerTools range of software components. CompOnentOne Studio for .NET is a collection of 11 royalty-free runtime distribution client products developed for use in Windows Forms inside Visual Studio.NET. GrapeCity India is the exclusive reseller in India for products of ComponentOne, a software component developer.


NIIT expands IT training offerings in China
NIIT has fine-tuned its education offerings for the Chinese market based on the country’s specific needs by launching the ‘e-Tian Tong’ curriculum in Mandarin. The company’s unique ‘e-Tian Tong’ curriculum has evoked considerable interest for high-end, high-quality training in China. NIIT’s move into China that started in 1998 has been followed by forays into other Asia-Pacific markets such as Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
