Altair Engineering and SGI announce global relationship

Altair Engineering has announced a global relationship with SGI. The agreement allows SGI to market and sell Altair’s PBS Pro distributed computing technology with its SGI Origin 3000 systems and SGI Altix 3000 superclusters. The bundled technology-hardware solution provides clients with an RoI-based high-performance computing environment.

“SGI and Altair are expanding the relationship by working together to provide versatile workload management capabilities that leverage the power of SGI platforms,” said Anneke Dempsey, director of Global Alliances, SGI. PBS Pro enables customers in the life sciences, energy, research, logistics, manufacturing and financial industries to optimise the utilisation of their high performance computing environments by aggregating computation resources into a virtual pool and intelligently scheduling computational workload across this virtual pool.
