Dr. Palm - II

Need a personal fitness trainer? Try your Palm handheld. Ashish Gupta concludes his two-part series on Dr. Palm with a list of software that can help you burn extra calories

eDiet Manager
The eDiet Manager application was designed to help users manage their daily nutrition, exercise, and health. It helps to set and achieve fitness and weight loss/gain objectives by providing the tools necessary to track and analyse users’ daily records. The application helps you to create personal diet profile and set targets for losing, gaining and maintaining current weight. For targets created, eDiet Manager offers a daily nutrition schedule and keeps track of your meals. Dynamic change of schedule is possible, according to the achieved results for each day. eDiet Manager supports extensive libraries of various foods and sport activities. The foods database of over 4,000 food items is maintained in 48 basic categories. Calories and fat content for each food is provided. Choose among 84 different sports. Use the daily chart to view your progress. The weight for a particular day is compared to the desired target weight.

Weights v7.2
Weights v7.2 has been designed for rapid workout creation. Lifts, sets, and supersets can be created with little effort using 78 predefined lifts or from user-defined lifts. Different periods of rest time between sets and lifts can be defined for each lift. Maintain notes before and after each workout and lift. Weights v7.2 replaces your workout journal for an electronic one.

Eat it!
With Eat It! you can log all the foods that you have eaten throughout the day (a database with about 1,100 foods is included). Eat It! calculates the intake of calories. Furthermore there are 25 nutrients, which are also analysed by the program, including Vitamin A, B1, B2, B6, C, E, iron, potassium, fat, water, carbohydrates, cholesterol and even alcohol. You can also store the results of your weight checks and compare them with your diet goals

Diet & Exercise Assistant 4.0
Manage your daily nutrition, exercise, and health. Now you can have the product that personal dieticians and physical trainers recommend. If you need to lose weight, get in shape, or simply watch what you eat, this product is designed for you. Establish a weight loss programme by setting a weight loss goal, target date, and monitor progress with historical charts and graphs. Track your nutrition by monitoring calories, carbohydrates, protein, fibre, fat, and saturated fat.

Healthy days
The average person already does pretty much everything that is necessary to keep healthy, except three things: 1) Exercise for 45 minutes a day. 2) Drink eight glasses of water. 3) Eat five servings of fruits or vegetables a day. This simple little tracking device helps motivate you to do those healthy things.

Runner’s Log
Runner’s Log for the Palm OS is a flexible, easy-to-use exercise log that was written specifically for the Palm OS. More than just a simple database application, Runner’s Log also includes a statistical mode which calculates numerous parameters for you such as your average pace for the previous month, or how many kilometres you have. And with support for up to eight different activity types, Runner’s Log isn’t just for runners. The program uses a unique and customisable data entry system that allows you to quickly input your daily training data and review your exercise history.

Train Track
Train Track is a portable exercise log. It was specifically created to serve as a running log—tracking daily running routes, time, mileage, workout type, notes, weather, temperature, and mood.

Athlete’s Diary
The Athlete’s Diary is the Palm version of the best-selling athletic training software for Windows and Macintosh. Use it to record fitness activity in up to eight sports—running, cycling, swimming, or anything else. View your data on a daily or weekly basis, as well as totals and graphs of time and distance. Also tracks any other numerical quantities—weight, heart rate, and the time for a particular hill climb. Includes Windows and Macintosh conduits for synchronising data with the desktop versions of The Athlete’s Diary.

Pocket Fitness
Pocket Fitness is a log book for recording fitness assessments, including body composition, aerobic capacity, flexibility, and muscular girth measurements. When used with PocketCardio and LiftLog, you can obtain an accurate profile of your aerobic and anaerobic progress. Get muscular and lean. Record assessment date, notes, weight, body fat percentage, flexibility (sit & reach), aerobic capacity, and all body girth measurements. Automatically calculates lean body mass (LBM).

Workout Tracker
Workout Tracker is your personal fitness assistant. It will track your exercise routines and monitor your workout in a number of ways.

Workout Tracker includes a extensive menu of exercises, all of which can be customised to fit your needs. It keeps a convenient list of all the exercises you do, organised by date. You can record information for each exercise, customise exercises to suit your needs, and more.

Workout Tracker comes with over 30 pre-defined exercise templates, and lets you create an unlimited number of new ones for your own use. Enter in sets, reps, weight, range of motion, and over 25 additional fields. You can also graph your progress, set goals for the next time you work out, and keep track of mileage.
