Warana launches milk credit card
Warana Co-operative Milk Produce Processing
Limited (WCMPPL) has launched a milk credit card for its members.
Mumbai-based smart card solution provider iSmart International has
played a major role in providing the technology and implementation
of this pilot project on a chip-based smart card.
The ‘Warana Milk Credit Card’
project was launched on April 2, 2003, when smart cards were issued
to WCMPPL members. The dairy members can use the smart card to make
any purchase at the Warana Bazaar, located a few kilometres away,
for the milk dispensed by them to the co-operative. This system
will help the co-operative to track and settle payments, which it
has to make on periodic basis to individual members. Moreover, members
will now be able to effectively use the credit facility on the purchase
made in the respective shops at Warana.
