McAfee Security SpamKiller
Network Associates has announced the launch
of McAfee Security Spamkiller, an anti-spam solution that helps
small- and medium-sized businesses clean spam e-mail from Microsoft
Exchange. The company has positioned this as the first product in
the company’s multi-tiered approach to combating the spam problem.
SpamKiller scans incoming e-mail that reaches
the server using a pre-defined set of hundreds of rules to proactively
detect and quarantine spam. Employees no longer have to waste time
determining what is valid e-mail and what is spam. The result is
that the threat of inappropriate content reaching employees is significantly
reduced, which helps limit an organisation’s HR, financial and legal
liability.
The SpamKiller technology uses a highly accurate
scoring system to determine whether a particular e-mail is spam.
With an extensive set of rules that run behind SpamKiller, each
e-mail receives a positive or negative score to determine its overall
spam rating, and once spam is detected, messages are either delivered
to the end-user’s inbox, personal junk mail folder or a system-wide
junk folder. Network Associates claims a success rate of 95 percent
with a false positive rate of less than 0.05 percent in detecting
spam.

- Integrity Analysis: Examines the header,
layout and organisation of every incoming e-mail message and applies
thousands of algorithms to determine if the e-mail is spam.
- Heuristic Detection: With a set of automated
rules based on known spam characteristics, SpamKiller works proactively
to secure the network against spam.
- Content Filtering: The administrator-defined
set of words and phrases helps further identify unwanted e-mail
and inappropriate content.
- Personalised black and white lists: A
set of standards defined by the administrator and users utilising
white- and blacklists to determine both acceptable senders of
e-mail, as well as unwanted and unacceptable senders of e-mail.
- Self-tuning: With the ability to learn
the characteristics of e-mail received at the desktop, SpamKiller
powered by SpamAssassin adjusts the overall spam score for messages
received from known senders.

Iomega External USB 2.0 CD-RW drive
 Iomega
has unveiled its external CD-RW drive, the Iomega 52x24x52 External
USB 2.0 CD-RW drive. It can be shared among multiple computers and
multiple operating systems, be it a PC or a Macintosh.
The product comes bundled with all the hardware
and software usually needed to capture and share music, photos,
presentations, data and more. This software bundle includes the
new Iomega HotBurn Pro CD mastering software for the PC, Hotburn
for the Macintosh, MusicMatch Jukebox (for PC), and Adobe ActiveShare
(for PC).
The drive offers 48x digital audio extraction
(DAE) speed with buffer underrun protection, eliminating the risk
of wasted CD media. It also comes with software to burn CDs easily
and quickly, and is compatible with Microsoft Windows XP and Mac
OS 9.1.
The drive also comes with a USB 2.0 data cable,
external power supply, one CD-R disc, and a quick-install manual.
Users will need a separate USB 2.0 card in order to achieve full
52x24x52 speed. The Iomega 52x24x52 external USB 2.0 CD-RW drive
is available across India from all Iomega authorised resellers at
a price of Rs 9,000, including a one year limited warranty.

Dyna-1750 is a rugged, self-contained panel trainer with a steel
case and integral power supplies. The transducer and signal conditioning
elements of this trainer are typical of those used throughout the

Transducer input devices aid the detection
