WingMan Cordless Rumblepad
Logitech has launched the WingMan Cordless Rumblepad for avid gaming
enthusiasts. The WingMan Cordless Rumblepad is an excellent gaming
accessory, especially for sport and flight simulation games. The
rumblepad has an USB-only interface and comes packed with a sleep
mode to save power when not in use. A dedicated rumble button turns
the vibration feature off when not used. A convenient throttle is
included in the new design, as are 11 programmable buttons. A dedicated
mode button switches the functionality of the gamepad between sports
and flight simulation modes. The connection between the receiver
and the cordless gamepad is interference-free due to the constant
checking between the two channels. If the Cordless RumblePad is
used with the Logitech WingMan Profiler software, players can double
the number of programmable functions with a user-defined shift button
option. The player can also create and save customised button functions
for games, print out profiles for a quick reference and even download
new game profiles from www.logitech.com. The WingMan Cordless Rumblepad
is priced at Rs 4,999 and comes with a one-year warranty. The product
is available with all genuine Logitech dealers.

Labcal
SmartPrint Mountie
Hyderabad-based Labcal Biometric Technologies has announced the
launch of its wall-mounted access control equipment for physical
access control. Christened SmartPrint Mountie (SAC-2500), the reader
senses the users fingerprint and compares the reading to a
secure biometric reference template stored on a smart card. The
solution combines public key cryptography, smart card and biometric
technologies with Labcals SmartPrint authentication systems.
The device stores a fingerprint as a template for reference on a
secure token during the registration process. All user information
is electronically signed by a 1024-bit DSA private key. Since fingerprints
are stored on tokens the authentication process is faster and more
robust. It also alleviates privacy concerns as the system doesnt
use a centralised fingerprint database. The system can also work
without smart cards as thousands of fingerprints can be stored on
the reader memory itself.
