Progeon set to sign deal with British Telecom

Infosys BPO subsidiary Progeon is all set to be the second service provider for British Telecom’s mega telecommunications services outsourcing deal for India. HCL Technologies is the other partner selected by BT.

Following the five-year contract, Progeon will provide a wide range of services to BT, including back-office processing and inbound/outbound calls. Progeon will be setting up the 32nd call centre with a 17 Mbps link between Bangalore and UK for BT which currently has 31 such next-generation contact centres across Europe.

While the size of the deal has not been disclosed, Progeon is expected to hire between 150-200 people next quarter for BT and will also begin executing directory enquiry services for the British major with call volumes likely to be in the region of several million calls per month.
