Future calling: Are you ready for network-based storage?
Indian companies are moving away from using DAS to network-based storage technologies like SAN and NAS. Akhtar Pasha finds that new technologies such as iSCSI will co-exist with existing ones such as fibre channel, within enterprises and data centres. As enterprise networks become complex to manage, storage services providers are expected to profit. Nevertheless, both customers and vendors will be in a win-win situation

Enterprises drive the disaster recovery market
In India, large banks like Citibank, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank, which have data centres in place, have gone ahead and implemented disaster recovery (DR) solutions.

GE opts for multiple disaster recovery sites
GE’s Indian call centre, which generates mountains of customer data, has invested in five DR sites spread across the country to deal with any natural or man-made disasters.
