Pitroshni has unveiled a multi-purpose Intel Celeron
766 Mhz system in the Indian market. Manufactured by
the Taiwan-based Elite Group, a leading manufacturer
of PC products, the device christened Book PC, is a
compact book-sized device, which offers all the benefits
and functionalities of a PC. The device also serves
as a DVD, MP3 and VCD player, and can also as be used
as a multimedia Internet PC. Book PC comes bundled with
software titles that include audio applications such
as GAMUT (MP3 file encoder/decoder included), PIC super
voice Internet phone applications, media ring talk,
Trend Micro anti-virus software, and PC-cillin, AMI
desktop client manager, and AMI fault finder (hardware
diagnostics). The Book PC is currently available in
the Indian market at a price of Rs 12, 500.

Philips
India in association with Nike has launched a range
of portable audio players, including wearable, skip-free
and sports-ready FM, CD and MP3 players. In the MP3
category the company has launched the ACT 200, which
can store up to 64 MB of uninterrupted music. The product
has been designed keeping physical activity in mind.
The Philips and Nike joint venture expects to motivate
athletic activity by combining music and aesthetic appeal.
The product comes in a metal casing blended with a shockproof
plastic body. Act 200 comes with a flexible sports headphone
for greater user comfort. The ergonomic headphone design
is expected to improve stability while running. The
stretchable armband enables the user to attach the MP3
player to his arms and enjoy carefree music while involved
in physical activity. The product, which weighs just
45 grams without the battery, is priced at Rs 8,500
and will soon be available across the country.
