Matrix One adopts Geometric’s IM software

Chitra Padmanabhan / Mumbai

Geometric Software, a company dealing in PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) solutions, has developed a tool to enable instant messaging within an organisation. Matrix One, which is the first customer to adopt this technology, is its licensing partner, and also a specialist in providing collaborative PLM solutions. The instant messaging solution will go as an add-on feature to ‘Team Central,’ a collaborative product from Matrix One.

The messaging system enables continuous exchange of instant messages between two or more members in a single session. A user who is authorised to start a conference can invite other members of the same project by sending a notification to join the session. The instant messaging sessions can be saved in a predefined team central folder. “The key differentiating factor of the application is that it is a server-based application on the premises of the customer, which ensures security and confidentiality of data,” said Ajit Joshi, head, information business unit, Geometric Software Solutions.

The application provides functionality to start WebEx sessions and also supports alerts on mobile phones with a feature wherein members can simultaneously view a document and modify it online.

The instant messaging system is exclusive to the user organisation.
