Singapore IDA eyes Indian e-governance opportunity

Chitra Padmanabhan / Mumbai

Singapore IDA (Infocomm Development Authority) has laid down comprehensive plans for e-governance initiatives in India. IDA, whose basic role is to facilitate technology initiatives in Singapore, is all set to share its experience on technology trends, policies and strategies in the area of e-governance in India. In its recent initiative, IDA is looking to popularise e-governance initiatives in India in a bid to enable Singapore-based companies to leverage on the opportunity.

The organisation’s role would be to act as a catalyst in order to promote info-communications through tie-ups with various countries. “Singapore is known for its state-of-the-art e-governance initiatives and our intention is to replicate the same in India as well,” said Mohan Mirwani, country director (India), IDA Singapore.

Using its own e-governance infrastructure as a case study, representatives from Singapore-based companies plan to create awareness among Indian authorities by sharing their experience in developing and deploying solutions for the government of Singapore.
