Tata Infotech partners with BEA Systems
Tata Infotech has entered into a strategic alliance with BEA Systems, an application infrastructure software company, to provide solutions on the BEA Weblogic platform. The partnership will enable Tata Infotech to build on BEA products and deliver a wide range of dynamic and reliable end-to-end e-commerce solutions globally. With this partnership, Tata Infotech would integrate BEA’s products into its solution frameworks and proprietary methodologies.
BEA infrastructure would help Tata Infotech’s clients provide customers end-to-end e-commerce transaction solutions that are personalised, accurate and timely. The partnership also provides customers with comprehensive infrastructure for development and deployment of scalable business applications for e-commerce.


Neoteric exclusive distributor for Asus motherboard
Mumbai-based Neoteric recently tied-up with Asus, a leading manufacturer of motherboards, to distribute the A7S266-VM range of motherboards in the country. Asus has identified Neoteric as its premium partner and has given the company exclusive rights to distribute this particular motherboard in the cost-conscious Indian market. Asus A7S266-VM incorporates the SiS 740 chipset to support AMD Socket A processors, supports both DDR and SDRAM memory and integrated graphics, sound and LAN cards. The chip eliminates the cost of an additional sound card and an optional SPDIF-in/out module that enables easy connection to high-end external speaker systems. Currently priced at Rs 5,000 the product will be available through the Neoteric network across the country. Wipro increases stake in Spectramind to 100 percent Wipro has acquired the entire equity holding owned by Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) in Wipro Spectramind Services for an aggregate consideration of Rs 264 million ($5.5 million). Wipro acquired from HDFC equity shares representing 8 percent of the outstanding equity shares of Wipro Spectramind Services. These equity shares represent approximately 6 percent of the equity of Wipro Spectramind Services on a fully diluted basis. With this, Wipro Spectramind Services is now a fully-owned subsidiary of Wipro.


Concerto Software and IBM India announce alliance
Concerto Software India, a subsidiary of Concerto Software, and IBM India have entered into an alliance to address and deliver solutions to customers in the contact centre market in India. Under the terms of the agreement, both companies will explore opportunities to sell Concerto Software’s solutions and IBM’s products and services to contact centres throughout India. Concerto Software provides contact centre solutions that help companies manage customer interactions more effectively through voice, e-mail, Web and fax. IBM’s offerings to the contact centre market include CRM services, network connectivity services, site services, IT infrastructure services, IT process consulting, facilities management services and computing infrastructure.


Magnasoft and Laser-Scan form strategic alliance
Magnasoft, a leading provider of end-to-end GIS solutions, recently announced a strategic alliance with Laser Scan of UK, an innovative solution provider for geographic information. This alliance will augment Magnasoft’s range of solutions by adding Laser-Scan’s Radius Topology; it will also enable Laser-Scan to reach the Indian markets. Radius Topology extends the Oracle9i database and provides dramatic improvements in the speed and consistency of spatial data handling. Working behind the scenes, Radius Topology automatically adds topological intelligence to data; existing Oracle spatial software and GIS applications can continue unchanged. Laser-Scan’s Radius Topology brings the advantages of GIS to all users within the IT environment.


Veritas’ software helps Sun Solaris run 15 times faster
Veritas Software has announced that companies who use Veritas storage software with Sun Solaris 9 experience 15 times faster computing performance and improved system reliability compared to those who run the native software provided with the operating system. Testing performed by the GiantLoop Testing and Certification (GTAC) Lab, an independent testing facility for enterprise storage and networking technologies, demonstrates that Veritas Foundation Suite, which combines a high performance file system and storage virtualisation solution, makes data-intensive environments run faster on the Solaris 9 platform.


ETS chooses TBG IT service to streamline different processes
The Boston Group (TBG), a global provider of IT and eLearning solutions has announced that Education Testing Services Inc. (ETS) has chosen TBG’s cost-effective IT services for streamlining their IT department. With its portal catering to more than 120000 users, ETS sought the professional services of TBG to look into database tuning, performance monitoring, network restructuring, customisation and integration services.


Antwerp Diamond Bank, Mumbai goes live on FLEXCUBE
i-flex solutions, a leading global provider of information technology solutions to the financial services industry worldwide, recently announced that its flagship product FLEXCUBE has gone live in Antwerp Diamond Bank (ADB), Mumbai, a premier bank for the global diamond industry. i-flex also designed and deployed a data centre for the bank at its Mumbai branch. Antwerp Diamond Bank has been successfully running on FLEXCUBE in Antwerp, Belgium for over two years and its New York office also runs on FLEXCUBE. Antwerp Diamond Bank has replaced its entire core legacy and front-end system with FLEXCUBE incorporating modules like core, treasury, risk management, trade modules and the powerful reporting and management information features. i-flex also fine tuned the reporting for the bank according to the Indian Banking norms, risk reporting for Belgium and statutory reporting for the Reserve Bank of India to satisfy both the Indian and Belgian requirements.
