Ruksun builds solutions to gain customers

Stanley Glancy / Mumbai

The effects of the global downturn seem to be on the wane with more and more Indian software services companies seeing a reversal in their fortunes. Among the gainers is Pune-based Ruksun Software Technologies, a provider of software solutions and services for mobile computing and wireless applications. In the past few months the company has been able to garner as many as nine clients from diverse verticals. Said Raj Chainani, CEO and president of Ruksun Technologies, “Our venture into product development provided us with the expertise to provide complete end-to-end solutions in multiple technology areas and software industry segments.”

He added that Ruksun has been able to achieve this by leveraging its product development skills to reduce operational costs by almost 35 percent and also return business from existing customers. Though the company had to resort to layoffs to reduce overheads during the slowdown, it plans to employ more technologists in the coming months. In fact, Ruksun is already looking at software professionals with expertise in wireless and mobile computing as the current team of 70 people is way below the number required for handling the growing number of assignments the company has been garnering. Though the company is currently more focused on services, there will be parallel efforts to build a product suite for end-user applications and software solutions in the mobile computing space, said Chainani.

Ruksun has also partnered with Ericsson, Empower Interactive Group and Microsoft in an effort to make its solutions available globally.
