Dell revamps product line, launches three new systems

Circuit EC / Mumbai

Dell has introduced Dell Precision 650 and 450 workstations that incorporate Intel’s new 7505 chipset with the dual Xeon processor technology. Along with the recently launched Dell Precision 350, (with single processor Pentium 4) these products offer customers a new option for high-performance desktop workstations.

“Our Dell Precision workstations are designed to meet the complicated performance needs of customers in areas like computer-aided design and digital content creation,” said K S Vishwanath, managing director for Dell India.

The Dell Precision 650 and 450 support the latest advances in dual processor Xeon architecture that enable a 533 MHz front side bus, AGP 8X graphics, hyper threading technology and dual PCI expansion featuring 64-bit PCI-X.

The Dell Precision 650 offers performance and scalability for workstation users who require maximum input/output device expansion, graphics and storage. The Dell Precision 450 offers similar advantages as the 650, but in a chassis designed for space-constrained environments where dual processing is required, such as financial trading desks or clustering applications.

Dell has also introduced three new OpenGL graphics accelerators: ATI FireGL E1 for entry-level 3-D environment; ATI FireGL X1 for large assemblies and complex 3-D environments; and the 3Dlabs Wildcat 7110 high-end graphics adapter.

A sample Dell Precision 350 includes a 2.66 GHz Pentium 4 processor, 512 MB PC1066 ECC RDRAM, ATI Fire GLTM E1 graphics card, 40 GB IDE hard disk drive, 48X CD-RW drive, and a Dell UltraSharp 17-inch flat panel monitor and costs around Rs 1,83,839.

All systems include three-years onsite next-business-day service and Microsoft Windows XP Professional.
