i-flex consulting to offer SCAMPI services

Prashant L Rao / Bangalore

CMM has been the buzzword in software engineering for quite a while—now it’s time for its successor—CMMI. i-flex consulting is offering transition services for organisations looking to make the move from CMM to CMMI. Source selection, engineering are not directly covered by the CMM model and creators of the model have received considerable feedback given on risk management and metrices. CMMI integrates product and application software engineering development. It has 26 KPAs (Key Process Areas) versus CMM’s 18.

i-flex’s target market would be the 50 companies in India who are at Level 4 or 5 who are now looking at CMMI. This year the company plans to conduct one or two assessments every month. In addition to the assessors, people who have worked on quality will lend a hand. The company will also certify more people for making the transition to CMMI.

The company acts as a transition partner for companies moving from CMM to CMMI. “Having implemented CMMI ourselves we are in the best position to advise others on how to make the transition,” said Vijay Sharma, head, Consulting and CRM, i-flex solutions.

i-flex offers its consulting services in India, APAC, US and Europe. In India the focus will be on assessment services, whereas in other regions it will also offer process improvement and training.
