Cisco Systems IP Phone 7905
Cisco Systems has recently announced the launch of its latest generation of IP phones the Cisco IP Phone 7905 series in India. Cisco IP Phone 7905 brings state-of-the-art technology to voice communication solutions for businesses, corporates and mass usage like in those at PCO’s, SOHO and Homes.

Cisco IP Phone 7905, also called the Little Dragon, is based on Cisco’s AVVID (Architec-ture for Voice, Video and Integrated Data).

The 7905 delivers essential business communications, by providing the most frequently used business features such as instant updates on stocks, quote of the day, weather or any other Web-based information; Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP3) standard directory which provides user mobility within the office while retaining use of direct dial number.

Other key services provided are video conferencing and collaboration and other value-added options such as prioritising calls received, calling party name and number, calls received, missed calls and dialed calls etc. in an easy-to-program and easy-to-use platform.

D-Link DFL-500 and DFL-1000
D-Link has recently launched two firewall products DFL-500 and DFL-1000 with advanced security and protection for the network. The company claims that the DFL-500 and DFL 1000 are fully configurable firewalls that detect and prevent hackers and Denial of Service (DoS) attacks. Company sources said that these are state-of-the-art firewalls whose core function is to protect computer networks from the hostile environment of the Internet.

DFL-500 and DFL-1000 include a complete range of options that control incoming and outgoing traffic, block or allow access for all policy options, control when individual policies are in effect, accept or deny traffic to and from individual addresses, control standard and user definable network services individually or in groups.

DFL-500 is easily installed using the web-based manager firewall set-up wizard. This firewall provides comprehensive protection and content control for small office/home office (SOHO) networks.

DFL-1000 employs high-performance architecture, a dedicated co-processor, proprietary BIOS and OS firmware. This firewall offers the best and highest performance solution for securing business network.

D-Link’s firewalls DFL-500 and DFL-1000 combine features such as Virtual Private Networking (VPN), virus protection, easy and secure configuration management and content filtering. They protect the system from most Internet security threats such as viruses and worms and potential damage from them.

Besides keeping out hackers and other unauthorised individuals, these products can be used to safeguard against viruses and other rogue codes. The firewall also supports hardware-assisted virus scanning and IP sharing.

Quantum Guardian 14000 NAS Server
Quantum has announced the availability of enterprise-class Guardian 14000 Network Attached Storage (NAS) server. Priced at $25,000, Guardian 14000 is targeted at the mid-tier NAS market. The product can handle the storage of business-critical data in enterprise environments through simple configuration, easy management and seamless integration within network infrastructures.

A Linux-based operating system, developed and optimised through Quantum, to provide robust file storage for business-critical data, power the new Guardian 14000.

Olivetti Studiojet 300
Olivetti’s Studiojet 300 is a multifunctional ink-jet colour system that incorporates the capabilities of a photocopier, printer and a scanner.

With a resolution of 1200x1200 dpi, it produces nine copies per minute and uses an enhanced print method to deliver high-definition copies free of defects such as white or black lines.

In the scanning mode, users can capture as many documents and images as they like with the 600x1200 dpi scan quality and enhanced resolution of 9600x9600 dpi. If connected to a modem-equipped PC, users will have a PC/Fax to transmit scanned material.

In addition, this printer bundles software such as Pagis Pro, which is a Windows-based document management suite with extended functions for scanning, filing and printing any kind of colour or black and white document/image.

Text Bridge Pro, an OCR for image-text-text file conversion in any windows-based application is also included. Another, software is ‘Picture Publisher’ for photographic processing and ‘Draw’, a desktop publishing application for production of high-quality business documents, invitations, banners, et al.

ViewSonic PJ500 and PJ500
ViewSonic has recently announced the expansion of its projector range with the introduction of PJ500 and PJ550. These two projectors are designed not only to meet the stringent requirements of business professionals, but also deliver the versatility and ease of use demanded by home theatre enthusiasts.

Weighing just 1.9 kg each, both offer compatibility, ease of use and excellent image quality in a lightweight, mobile form factor that can be easily transported and adapted from home to business environments.
