P&O Nedlloyd opens support centres in Pune, Chennai

Circuit EC/Pune

P&O Nedlloyd, one of the world’s largest container shipping companies, has opened two support centres in Pune and Chennai for its global business, and has established a new company, P&O Nedlloyd IT Services to operate these centres. The new company will perform two support functions for P&O Nedlloyd—it will act as a back-office for the company’s worldwide business covering a variety of shipping, documentation and finance-related processes and serve as a global IT support centre. The new offices will cater for upwards of 500 staff between them. Provisions have also been made to expand to accommodate up to 1000 staff in the future.

Commenting on the new organisation, Barry Williams, executive director, P&O Nedlloyd, London, responsible for P&O Nedlloyd IT Services, said, “Our new Indian organisation is an exciting new venture for the company and is a key part of our plans to reduce costs while continuing to raise our service standards.”

He adds that the Pune global centre would be the only one of its kind P&O Nedlloyd has worldwide, and would provide 24x7 support to the company’s offices.
