Transworld Infotech inaugurates development centre at Pune

Circuit EC/Pune

Pune-based Transworld Infotech Limited (TWIL) has moved into expansion mode and established a 20,000 sq ft world-class development facility in Pune. The company also plans to ramp up its employee strength from the current 50 to 200 by 2003. Says Donn Liles, chief executive, president and director, TWIL, “In 2001, we diversified into strategic business units (SBUs) in order to move up the IT value chain. The establishment of this development centre comes as part of this move up the ladder.”

In an effort to enhance the quality of its services, the company has phased its entry into the software arena. “The first phase was development of our project lifecycle methodology, software engineering processes and quality-assurance processes compatible with SEI CMM Level-5 guidelines. These were defined and indoctrinated while developing the business-management systems for TWIL. During Phase 2, we refine these methods and processes while delivering only a limited number of totally controlled projects to carefully chosen clients in the US. Having maximised probability of success and created reiterative project-execution capabilities, we will enter Phase 3, which is full-fledged market entry by mid-2002,” says Liles.

TWIL has enjoyed a steady and consistent growth over the last few years. Prudent business management has enabled the company to build strong capital reserves and make the necessary investments in 2001-02 to grow aggressively in the coming years, continue to invest and enhance shareholder value.
