Infotech Enterprises bets big on engineering services

CIrCUIT EC/Mumbai

Hyderabad-based Infot-ech Enterprises recently announced a business and equity partnership alliance with Pratt & Whitney, a subsidiary of US-based $24.1 billion United Technologies, aimed at giving it the much needed fillip in the nascent aerospace engineering sector. Says BVR Mohan Reddy, chairman and managing director, Infotech Enterprises, “We see a huge market in the engineering services sector. The alliance with Pratt & Whitney (which is into design, manufacture and support of engines for aircraft, space propulsion and power systems) will give us the credibility in the aerospace engineering market. It also provides us a multi-dimensional value perspective that includes business advancement and revenue visibility.”

As an indication of its dedication to the alliance, Pratt & Whitney has picked up a 15 percent equity stake in the company, which it plans to up to 18.4 percent by the end of the year. Infotech Enterprises plans to use the money to strengthen its capital structure and finance expansion plans that will include increased scalability in operations and capability to provide end-to-end services and solutions to clients.

Reddy says the alliance with Pratt & Whitney will give it the much needed credibility in the engineering services space

The company also plans to make the most of its skills in vertical segments such as manufacturing, utilities and telecom, and enter into long-term, high value relationships with large enterprise customers. As a matter of fact, all major telecom players in the country, including Bharti, Tata, Reliance and Hughes feature on Infotech’s client list.

In the engineering space, the company has diverged into verticals such as automobile and industrial design. Adds Reddy, “Transportation and tele services are other growth areas that we are looking at. Through our GIS network, we are in a position to get customers and then provide them with software services. We also see a lot of work coming up in the GIS maintenance services area.” With biggies such as Carrier, Otis, Ford, GE Network Solutions, etc, figuring amongst its clientele, it’s no wonder that the company has managed to achieve a turnover of Rs 97 crore within a short period of nine months. The company expects to see a growth rate of 50-60 percent and a turnover of Rs 140-145 crore in the coming year.

Infotech has in the past taken the acquisition route by acquiring companies such as Dataview Solutions, Cartographic Sciences and Advanced Graphics Software to strengthen its position and spread across various geographies. Geographically, Infotech has a presence in North America, Europe, India and A-PAC. The company is also planning to open offices in Australia, but may not take the acquisition route as it plans to first consolidate its present acquisitions.
