Enterasys fires staff related to accounting woes

Network equipment maker Enterasys Networks said it fired three senior employees in its Asia-Pacific operations as a result of previously disclosed accounting irregularities there. The company, which said the employees had previously been placed on administrative leave, also said it will not release its fourth-quarter earnings before late March.

Earlier this month, Enterasys said it had uncovered accounting irregularities involving contractual and revenue recognition matters in its Asian operations. At that time, the company also said it and its affiliates were under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission, although it is not yet clear if the two matters are related.
